Earlier tonight, as part of their regular training, Skerries Coast Guard conducted a night search. The team were required to search an area of coastline north of Skerries. This was a scenario based search, developed around a callout the team were tasked to in recent months. Key areas covered included: night search techniques, radio communications, first aid, casualty transportation and use of rescue equipment.

Saturday, February 9th, 2008Skerries Coast Guard were tasked at 10:03 by the Coast Guard’s rescue coordination centre in Dublin (MRCC) to investigate a possible flare sighting near the Balbriggan coastline. The Skerries team conducted a coastal search from Skerries to Gormonstown with nothing to report. Visibility was excellent. Team stood down by MRCC.
