Earlier tonight, the Skerries Coast Guard team conducted a training exercise on Red Island. This invloved a night search of the Red Island area and subsequent treatment of a casualty with suspected spinal injuries.

Flare sighting – 5th Mar 2008
Friday, March 14th, 2008Skerries Coast Guard were tasked at 22:48 to investigate a flare sighting. Several members of the public had reported parachute flares being deployed near the coastline north of Balbriggan. Team stood down en-route to search location. Source of flares traced by the Coast Guard’s rescue co-ordination centre in Dublin (MRCC) and no further assistance required.
