<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify">At 20:20 this evening, the Skerries Coast Guard team were tasked by the Irish Coast Guard’s rescue co-ordination centre (MRCC) to investigate a report of a possible sighting of a red distress flare south of Loughshinney harbour.</p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify">Skerries Coast Guard Volunteers conducted an extensive search of the coastline between Loughshinney and Rogerstown estuary. Although there were a number of large vessles visible at sea off the coast, nothing unusual was found. The team were subsequently stood down by MRCC.</p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify">Weather conditions in the area were fair with good visibilty and light SW winds.</p>
<p><strong>Remember, If you see someone in difficulty in the water (sea, river or lake) or on the cliffs, diall 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard &#8211; do not assume someone else has made the call. </strong></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p align="justify">This morning, Skerries Coast Guard were tasked by the Irish Coast Guard&#8217;s rescue coordination centre (MRCC) to respond to an incident near Loughshinny, two miles south of Skerries.  An adult male had reportedly fallen from cliffs near the harbour area and sustained serious injuries.</p>
<p align="justify">On arrival at the scene, the Skerries Coast Guard team, together with the other emergency services present, (gardai, fire brigade and ambulance), carried out the rescue operation. Skerries lifeboat also assisted.</p>
<p align="justify">The Coast Guard helicopter (R116) winched the casualty from the cliff area and transferred the casualty to the nearest hospital.  </p>
