Why Volunteer?

A Role Like No Other

Volunteering with Skerries Coast Guard is one of the most rewarding things you can do. You become part of a tight-knit search and drone team that responds when people need help the most — along the coastline and open ground of North County Dublin.

As a volunteer, you'll receive world-class training in search and rescue, first aid, drone operations, and more — all funded and delivered by the Irish Coast Guard. You'll gain skills that last a lifetime while giving back to your local community.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life: teachers, nurses, tradespeople, students, and retirees. What unites us is a commitment to helping others and a love of the sea.

What You'll Get

  • Full IRCG training at no cost to you
  • Nationally recognised rescue qualifications
  • All equipment and PPE supplied
  • A close-knit team and lifelong friendships
  • Satisfaction of making a difference
  • Access to specialist skills (ropes, first aid, radio)
  • Ongoing professional development
