Incident – 19th June 2008

This morning, Skerries Coast Guard were tasked by the Irish Coast Guard’s rescue coordination centre (MRCC) to respond to an incident near Loughshinny, two miles south of Skerries.  An adult male had reportedly fallen from cliffs near the harbour area and sustained serious injuries.

On arrival at the scene, the Skerries Coast Guard team, together with the other emergency services present, (gardai, fire brigade and ambulance), carried out the rescue operation. Skerries lifeboat also assisted.

The Coast Guard helicopter (R116) winched the casualty from the cliff area and transferred the casualty to the nearest hospital.
